Life Groups

Life Groups
All our Life Groups meet weekly, and we'd love for you to be part of one. This is where life together really happens: real friendships, honest conversations, and growing in faith alongside others in a smaller community. There's a group for every stage of life, so you belong here, and there's a place for you. Don't do this on your own, come and find your group, contact our office at office@rockybaptist.org.au, submit an enquiry through our Church Centre form, or talk to any of our staff, we'd love to help you find your life group.

Next Generation

Faith Kids

Faith Kids meets downstairs during our Sunday service for our youngest kids, from 18 months through to preschool age. It's volunteer-led, and built around helping little ones meet Jesus in ways that make sense at their age.

Kingdom Adventurers

Kingdom Adventurers runs every Sunday morning for kids from Prep through to Year 6, up to forty kids taking part each week.

Youth

Sunday Youth runs alongside our Sunday morning services, fortnightly during school terms, led by a dedicated volunteer team. Friday Night Youth (FNY) is the heartbeat of our youth ministry, running weekly during school terms, Fridays 6:30 to 9pm: dinner, games, teaching, and small groups, in a space built for belonging as much as growing. $3 covers the night, but your very first Friday is free, so come check it out with nothing to lose. Youth Life Groups meet throughout the week in smaller circles for friendship, honest conversation, and digging into faith together, with groups for different ages and stages.
Throughout the year our young people also have events such as our annual Combined State Youth Camp with Queensland Baptists each January, a youth camp with Mackay Baptist Church this October, and interchurch events like Youth Alive - United We Stand.
Registering your child or teen for Faith Kids, Kingdom Adventurers, or Youth: you're welcome to fill in a participant registration form when you arrive on the day, or save time and do it online beforehand.

Our Curriculum

Faith Kids, Kingdom Adventurers, and Friday Night Youth run on the Amazing Life curriculum through the AmazingPlus platform. Amazing Life is built around a Scope and Cycle, a structured teaching plan organised into monthly themed series that build on each other across the year and cycle back to revisit key ideas over time. We're investing significantly in supporting parents, including an upcoming Parent+ app and Equip courses for parenting and marriage. More detail on this to follow as it's finalised.

Young Adults

The years after high school can move fast, and we want our young adults to have a community to belong to while they do. Whether you are studying, working, new to town, or just figuring things out, there is a place for you here. Life Groups run weekly, giving young adults a regular space for friendship, honest conversation, and growing in faith together. The broader young adults community also gathers fortnightly for its own social lunch, separate from the church-wide Community Potluck Lunch, where the food is good and the company is better. We have pastoral staff invested in this age group and available to walk with young adults through whatever life looks like right now. Each year, after the July mid-semester break, our young adults head off together for the combined Central Queensland Young Adults Retreat, a highlight on the calendar and a great way to build friendships beyond our own church.

Our community for over-60s, meeting Wednesdays 10:00am in the Function Room, morning tea included.

Craft for Leisure

Also known as Ladies Craft, meeting Thursdays 9:00am in the Function Room, everyone welcome.

Weekly Prayer Meetings

Fridays 7:30am in the Function Room, and Sundays 8:15am in the Chapel before the morning service. Come along, or contact the office for details.

Care Team

A dedicated team who walk alongside people through hard seasons: illness, loss, and life's harder moments. We also run a Watering Can offering, taken up periodically to support people in our church family who are genuinely doing it tough financially. If you or someone you know needs support, reach out and we'll connect you with someone from the team.

LOCAL OutREach

Outreach
Chaplaincy: Adrian, our Police Chaplain. Emily, our Scripture Union chaplain at Glenmore State High School. Aaron, our chaplain at Shalom Retirement Village. Kids Hope: volunteers providing one-on-one mentoring for kids who need extra support at Glenmore State School, plus a Brekkie Club running twice a week at the same school. Shalom Retirement Village: regular visits and services for residents. Coffee Van: taking connection and conversation out into the community. Community Potluck Lunch: a bi-monthly shared meal open to the whole church family and wider community. Also worth a mention here, Newcomers Morning Tea: a relaxed way for anyone new to meet the team over morning tea, held quarterly. Religious Instruction (RI): supporting our RI teachers and volunteers delivering religious education in Rockhampton and coast schools, a separate ministry to Scripture Union. Grace Vietnamese Church: Pastor Kinh, Van, Rose and Andy lead a vibrant, faith-filled Vietnamese-speaking congregation who gather on our property. Pastor Kinh plays a significant role across the wider regional Vietnamese church community, and we're glad to host and partner with them. Stacey Kerr: serving with Power to Change in Brisbane.

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF): a long-running partnership, supported through our annual Father's Day fundraising stall. Christmas appeals: each December we support Operation Christmas Child (shoebox gifts for children in need) and a Baptist World Aid child sponsorship appeal.
