God's Story
In the beginning, God created the world and everything in it, and it was very good. He made people in His own image, to know Him, to reflect His character, and to enjoy relationship with Him and with each other. God gave the first people, Adam and Eve, a perfect world to live in and one simple boundary. They chose to break it, trusting their own judgment over God's word, and sin entered the world. That choice broke the relationship between people and God, and it broke the world itself. Every kind of brokenness we see today, from personal guilt and shame to conflict, injustice, and death, traces back to that first rebellion.
But God did not abandon His creation. Throughout the Old Testament, God pursued a relationship with His people, making promises and covenants, rescuing them from slavery in Egypt, giving them His law, and sending prophets to call them back when they wandered. All of it pointed forward to a rescue that was still to come.
That rescue arrived in Jesus Christ, God's own Son, who left the glory of heaven to become one of us. Jesus lived the perfect life we could never live, then went to the cross and took the punishment our sin deserved, dying in our place. Three days later He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death once and for all. Through His death and resurrection, the way back to God was opened for anyone who puts their trust in Him.
This is the good news, that God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.
The story does not end there. Jesus is alive today, and He invites each of us into His story, to be forgiven, to be made new, and to become part of His family, the church. One day He will return to make all things right and restore creation fully. Until then, we get to live as His people, sharing His love with a world that desperately needs it.
This is God's big story, and it's an invitation for your story to become part of it.
